Short biography
I am a research assistant in the International Computer Institute of Ege University, and a research associate in ECLT and DAIS of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. I had postdoctoral research positions in the Imaging and Vision Laboratory at the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication at the University of Milano-Bicocca (2017-2018) with Prof. Raimondo Schettini, and in the European Centre for Living Technology at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in Italy (2018-2020) with Prof. Marcello Pelillo. I received my B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering at Ankara University, my M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Ege University. I completed my Ph.D. titled Semantic Interest Point Detection, co-advised by Profs. Bülent Sankur and Turhan Tunalı, in 2016. During my Ph.D. studies, I held a visiting position at BUSIM laboratory at Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Boğaziçi University (Turkey).
Broadly speaking, my research interests are in the areas of pattern recognition, computer vision and machine learning. Recently, I have been focusing on time-series analysis using machine learning for climate change risk assessment. My other research focuses on the analysis of fine art and cultural heritage using image processing and machine learning approaches.
I'm working in collaboration with :
- Studio Stelluti Flow – A residency of Luc Steels at Studio Luc Tuymans
- Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) - For VENEZIA 2021 : Scientific Research Program for a Regulated Lagoon of the CORILLA consortium
- Theme: Using AI techniques to probe the artistic method of Flemish painter Luc Tuymans
- Exhibition at Bozar, 03 April 2021 – 02 May 2021
- Sponsor: EU H2020 Starts Program, Bozar, Gluon.
