Project Name A Genetic Algorithm for Measured Subsurface Scattering Representation

Position Principal Investigator
Project Budget 62.500 $
Project No 119E092
Funded By 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Programme, TÜBİTAK, TURKEY
Description In this project, we present a novel genetic-algorithm based approach for the compact representation of heterogeneous, optically thick, translucent materials. Utilizing genetic optimization, we also find the best transformation to represent measured subsurface scattering (SSS) data. We also present an application of our factored representation, which can be used to convert heterogeneous materials into homogeneous material representations. Finally, to make widespread use of our new subsurface scattering representation, we develop a plugin for our genetic-algorithm based subsurface scattering representation..

Modeled subsurface scattering in translucent materials and rendered a subsurface scattering model using mainly C++, MATLAB, and MITSUBA

Project Budget 89.000 $
Project No 111E208
Funded By 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Programme, TÜBİTAK, TURKEY
Description In this project, we propose a new approach to model subsurface scattering in translucent materials. Subsurface Scattering data will be represented, and a general algorithm which is computationally simple, yielding high compression rates and good quality of images will be developed.
